Brett Dawson has 15 years of experience in the energy industry, ranging from oil and gas through utilities to renewables. He is a Chemical Engineer and holds an MBA from the University of Cape Town and an M.Phil in Future Studies. In addition to having worked for Ecofys, Sasol and Shell, Brett was the Director of Renewable Energy for the South African Government.
As a bio-energy specialist he has consulted in Europe and Africa where his expertise and experience cover bio-fuels and biomass use for heat and power applications. He has led policy studies, resource assessments, feasibility studies and project proposals for various applications including Biodiesel, Bioethanol, Anaerobic Digestion, CHP and Biomass Co-firing. He also managed a privately funded oilseed extraction research program in conjunction with the University of Cape Town and developed hands-on experience in the manufacture of biodiesel.
Brett has spoken at international conferences on bio-energy topics and has appeared as a guest lecturer at various forums. He also presented a post graduate training course on the use of scenarios as a strategy tool. Brett currently works for Doosan Power Systems where he is responsible for strategic planning and business development while lecturing on an ad hoc basis.
