Brian is Managing Director of BTA Consulting Limited - a niche and leading financial markets consultancy group, which Brian set up in 1991.
BTA Consulting has provided advice to some 100 clients across the globe on projects of national importance associated with the development of capital markets. This includes mature and emerging markets exchanges, MTFs, regulators, CSDs, investment banks, data centres and IT providers. The client experience has involved a significant number of projects where innovation drove change into markets and market structures and success has been achieved where others have failed. Brian is currently advising SIX Swiss Exchange where he has been advising on strategy and most recently the development of the non displayed service with Liquidnet, the Malta Stock Exchange, the Stock Exchange of Thailand, a regional exchange integration project and a number of other clients on strategic developments.
While running BTA Consulting, Brian has held various executive and senior positions with exchanges including Chief Financial Officer of PLUS Markets, an AIM listed company, CEO of the Bahamas International Securities Exchange and Interim Head of Finance for the Court Funds Office, Her Majesties Government. Brian qualified as a Chartered Accountant with Arthur Andersen & Co and worked for Merrill Lynch and Price Waterhouse Consulting, prior to establishing BTA.
Brian holds a First Class Honours Degree in Geography from the Victoria University of Manchester and is a Member of the Society of Industry Leaders (Guidepoint).
