With over 20 years experience in the Maritime Industry, he brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise. Having sailed as a Ships Engineer with Unicorn Shipping lines serving on a variety of vessels before joining the harbour services, has showed a deep passion for the shipping industry. He holds a Second Engineers Certificate of Competence [STCW]. Coupled with the sea going qualification has obtained a Master of Business Administration [Maritime Management and Economics], Master of Laws [Maritime Studies] and a Post Graduate Diploma in Business Management from the University of Natal.
Also holds a Diploma in Labour Law. Having held positions within the training environment was instrumental in the compilation of the Training and Certification Regulation, 1999 and ensuring that the Port Operations training for Marine Engineers was aligned to STCW requirements. Developed the curriculum framework for the training and development of marine engineers in the port environment. Working within the port operational environment has allowed for an appreciation of the complex nature of shipping in the global context.
