Geoffrey Daniell began his working career at Telkom SA Ltd and worked in all fields of telecommunications.
He was part of a team that investigated the feasibility of a dedicated geo-stationary mobile satellite for the African continent.
Geoffrey was part the CSIR’s SACOMSAT feasibility study team that prepared a report for the Department of Communications regarding the feasibility of a geo-stationary satellite for South Africa.
He also attended the ITU’s World Radio Conference 2000 in Istanbul as a member of the South African delegation.
Geoffrey is currently part of a team responsible for the design and implementation of the South African National Research and education Network (SANReN). The network provides very high speed (10Gbps) connectivity to the research and education institutions in South Africa. SANReN is closely linked with the Square Kilometre Array (SKA) bid project.
He is also a member of the South African National Preparatory Working Group dealing with matters related to international radio regulations.
