Johan van Schoor has extensive experience in corporate management and corporate governance and especially the corporate treasury’s responsibility in these areas.

Johan van Schoor spent 34 years with Transnet Ltd, the South African transport parastatal. In 1976 he was appointed as head of the so-called “Foreign Loans Department” which was the humble beginning of the treasury function in Transnet and, as such, has witnessed and participated in the development of the “treasury industry” and financial markets in South Africa, and the treasury function in Transnet.

In 1990, he was appointed Treasurer of the newly incorporated Transnet Ltd, and in 2001, the Association of Corporate Treasurers of South Africa (ACTSA) presented him with the Corporate Treasurer of the Year Award for his long-standing contribution to treasury excellence.

Johan has extensive experience as managing director and non-executive director. He can, therefore, share his experience of general and financial corporate management and corporate governance, and especially the corporate treasury’s responsibility in these areas.
