John Sykes is Principal and founder of Greenfields Research, which specialises in the analysis of the mine project development and long-term mineral economics for the base, precious and speciality metal markets.
For Greenfields, John has completed consultancy projects in the rare earths sector, conducting market entry studies, sector overviews, shareholder briefing presentations and contributing to IPO documentation. Alongside this John has also conducted research into copper mine projects in South America, global tin mining costs, tin mine IPO documentation, gold and base metals projects in Central Asia and gold mining in Australia, Russia and Europe.
John has substantial mining market analysis experience and has previously worked as a Copper Mining and Smelting Consultant for leading commodities consultancy CRU Group, London. He created the Copper Mine Project Profiles report and contributed to other key products on the subject of mine projects, operating mines, smelting and refining and the primary and raw material copper markets.
John was educated at the Royal School of Mines, Imperial College London, gaining a Master of Science in Geology. He remains the Senior Vice President of the Royal School of Mines Association. John also holds a Master of Science in Geophysical Hazards from University College London. He is a Fellow of the Geological Society of London and a member of the Association of Mining Analysts.
