Luc, a Belgian national, holds a Master of Law from the university of Leuven (Belgium), a LLM in International taxation from the university of Brussels (Belgium). He further is a certified accountant (IMA-USA), holds a MBA from Instituto de Empresa (Madrid, Spain) and his PhD from the university of Tilburg in international finance and corporate strategy.

Luc has been a consultant and trainer for 13 years with Coopers & Lybrand, Arthur Andersen and since the merger in 2002 with Deloitte where he held several emerging market leadership positions and ultimately as Global head of emerging markets. He has been based in all the different emerging market regions of the world within the different global leadership roles.

Given the leadership roles, he holds multi-industry experience with focus on the financial industry, TMT, real estate and consumer staples industries where he served the leading companies worldwide. His client base included CMG, Orange, Vodafone, Vimpelcom, ASML, Verizon, AT&T, Alcatel-Lucent, Celltel, Procter & Gamble, Unilever, Roche, LVMH, Pfizer, Georgia-Pacific, Q8, TATA group, Lenovo, Cellulose Arauco, Norisk Nickel Group, Fosfertil, VTB, ICICI, Santander  and many more.

In 2006, Luc founded Horizon Ltd. a Mauritius-based emerging markets conglomerate and investment platform currently with investment in the real estate, utilities, agribusiness, and consumer goods (FMCG, retail and durables) industries in the CEE & CIS, Latam,  Asiapac and Sub-Saharan Africa region. 
Based on the success of Horizon, he converted the business model into a global emerging markets merchant banking group ‘The Talitha Group’ with offices and presence on all the 6 continents and of which he currently is Group CEO.


He further is the Aizkraukles Banka chair in investment banking at the Riga Graduate School of Law in Latvia where his lecturing and research focuses on corporate and financial strategies for emerging markets and in particular the relationship between investment strategies and returns and the impact of country context and institutional voids on returns. Before he joined the Riga Graduate School of law he was a professor in international finance at Instituto de Empresa (Madrid, Spain)

He is the Director of the center for emerging markets private equity entrepreneurship. He further is responsible for the emerging markets portfolio management,  globalization & strategy and emerging markets PE & VC course  at the institute and provides extensive executive coaching, training and consulting in these matters for funds, investors, corporate executives and financial institutions worldwide.


Luc is fluent in Dutch, English, French, German and Portuguese and holds an intermediate level in Russian and Chinese.
