Starting as a Trainee in 1990 in Pick n’ Pay Hypermarkets, Troy Maidwell worked his way through all food departments to become National Category Manager for Perishables. In 1995, he joined BP as a Category Manager for BP Express, moving through various roles he then took over the role of Product Manager for all non-fuel offers for the Africa region. During this time he developed various new offers for BP and was instrumental in the roll out of 150 stores. At the end of 2003 he decided to pursue his own business, and has since been consulting for several major and independent retailers. His company offers strategic and operational consulting, as well as training. Troy also has two retail stores of his own.
